Research on Detection of Heated Pipelines Underground by Infrared Imaging
نویسنده
چکیده
The oil in the pipelines must be heated to a certain temperature in some oil fields in north of China. Otherwise, the oil will freeze because of much paraffin mixed in it. A method to detect the direction of the pipeline underground accurately is described in the paper. The temperature of the pipelines can conduct to the surface of the soil and be detected by an uncooled focal plane arrays (UFPA) sensor. The output of the thermal infrared sensor can be expressed as the gray thermal pictures. According to the different degree of gray in the thermal pictures, the temperature distribution of the soil surface can be obtained, and then the direction of the pipelines underground can be judged. The advantage of the method is simple operation, direct display and harmless to human and the environment. Copyright © 2014 IFSA Publishing, S. L.

MISE-PIPE: Magnetic induction-based wireless sensor networks for underground pipeline monitoring
Underground pipelines constitute one of the most important ways to transport large amounts of fluid (e.g. oil and water) through long distances. However, existing leakage detection techniques do not work well in monitoring the underground pipelines due to the harsh underground environmental conditions. In this paper, a new solution, the magnetic induction (MI)-based wireless sensor network for ...

Assessing the condition of underground pipelines such as water lines, sewer pipes, and telecommunication conduits in an automated and reliable manner is vital to the safety and maintenance of buried public infrastructure. In order to fully automate the condition assessment of buried pipes, it is necessary to develop a robust defect analysis and interpretation system. This paper presents the dev...
متن کاملMulti-Feature Based Multiple Pipelines Detection Using Ground Penetration Radar
Ground penetrating radar (GPR) is one of the common sensor system used for underground inspection which emits electromagnetic waves that can pass through objects. The reflecting waves are recorded and digitized, and then, the images are formed. According to the properties of scanning object, GPR creates higher or lower intensity values on the object regions. Thus, these changes in signal repres...
متن کاملDetection and Risk for Digging Activities around Underground Cables and Pipelines: Implications for Spatial Data Quality
Digging activities are considered the largest cause of damage to underground cables and pipelines. Contractors can reduce the risk through detection, which will cost time and thus money. In the Netherlands, maps are the prime source of information on the location of cables/pipelines and detection time strongly depends on whether maps indicate the presence of cables and pipelines. Poor quality m...
